When is the Hurricane and tropical storm season?

The hurricane season is from June to November. The higher percentage of all storms in the Atlantic occurs from August to October, with September and October considered the peak months.   Some bring several days of tropical rain and strong winds, and others turn into devastating hurricanes. Although fortunately, they are relatively rare.  Statistically, there is a low risk that a storm will impact your vacation.

While many accommodations in the area are built to withstand major hurricanes, however, to spend the night and day during a hurricane is not recommended, and flooding, power loss, and infrastructure breakdown make riding out of the storm a nightmare. Check the hurricane forecast before heading on vacation and consider buying travel insurance to protect your vacation investment and canceling plans if a storm comes to the area.

How is Spring Break in Akumal?

The Mexican Caribbean is one of the most popular warm-weather vacation spots for spring breakers. Lot is happening; places with beach-side bars, disco, and all-night clubs, and during the high season from the middle of February to April, thousands of students come to Cancun to celebrate spring break.  However, as Akumal is not a party place and does not have discos, we don’t have the privilege to have them in our town, but we do have some that come with families and want to have a relaxing or adventures experience.

At the beginning of the hot season, the cold winds stop completely; the weather is still nice and calm sea.  This season starts from the end of April to July, easier to find accommodation. We called Midseason because the prices drop from the high season and are not too low as the low season rates are less likely to have a hurricane during these months.

When is Low Season start?

The Low Season іѕ hot and humid аnd start in May thrоugh October (September and October typically being the wettest months and the hurricane season).  In the summer in this area, the rain usually happens during the night, but the following morning, we have a beautiful shiny day, but…. It is not always like that, we have occasional tropical storms that bring extended days of rainfall, so you have to take the chance.

How hot is the Summer in Akumal!

Summers are less comfortable, with days typically heating up to 94 °F (34 °C) and nights cooling off to 76 °F (25 °C).  is hot and above all humid.
